SALT LAKE CITY – In lieu of an in-person meet and greet, the Utah Democratic Party will host an online forum for its candidates in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District.

The UPD Rural Caucus forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, featuring candidates from northern Utah opposing incumbent U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT).

Those Democratic hopefuls are Peter Crosby, a senior data analyst supporting higher education from Providence; Tyler Farnsworth, a mental health nurse practitioner from Salt Lake City; auto financier Ian Parrish; and U.S. Army veteran Jarom Gillins.

This will be an opportunity for local residents to hear directly from Democratic congressional candidates and learn where they stand on the issues that matter most to rural communities, according to party leadership. Those issues include public lands, water, housing, healthcare and strengthening local economies.

Participants in the forum, which will be moderated by UDP Rural Caucus Chair Kael Weston, will also have a chance to submit questions for the candidates.

Congressional District 2 residents can join the candidate forum by going online to https://meet.google.com/mmq-mbpz-uyp or by calling 1-636-498-4016 and using Pin 375 951 547#.

Now in his third term in Congress, Moore is also facing two challengers from his own party – state Rep. Karianne Lisonbee (R-Clearfield) and former U.S. Army combat engineer Colton Hatch.

The line-up of Democratic candidates opposing Moore will be winnowed by the Democratic State Convention on April 25 at Jordan High School in Sandy and, if necessary, by statewide balloting in the Democratic Primary slated for June 23.
