LOGAN — A 20-year-old Utah State University student was arrested raping a fellow student on campus, according to law enforcement. Elijah Manuel Ledezma Lambertson was booked into the Cache County Jail on Saturday, April 6.

According to an arrest affidavit, Utah State Police officers were called to investigate the assault after the alleged victim contacted law enforcement. She claimed, she and the suspect had been in a mutual relationship but the suspect went further than they had previously agreed.

The woman told officers how she was “scared and didn’t know what to say,” as Lambertson raped her. She reportedly remained silent and felt betrayed.

Police obtained text messages between the alleged victim and suspect after the rape reportedly occurred. In the messages, Lambertson allegedly apologized for making the suspect uncomfortable. He wrote that he was sorry and wouldn’t do it again, court documents detailed.

Officers contacted Lambertson for questioning. He reportedly told police that he “did some bad things.” He also allegedly admitted what he did was wrong and that he overstepped his boundaries.

According to jail records, Lambertson was booked on suspicion of committing rape, a first-degree felony. He is being held in jail, pending arraignment on formal charges in Logan’s 1st District Court.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
