LOGAN — Utah State University President Brad Mortensen will launch an extensive multi-day tour of the university’s statewide campuses next week, aiming to connect with local leaders, students, and faculty across the state.
The tour, which begins Monday, Jan. 12, serves as a prelude to Mortensen’s formal presidential inauguration celebration scheduled for the end of the week. During the four-day trek, Mortensen will visit eight different communities to host town hall meetings and participate in campus events.
“I am looking forward to engaging with our students, faculty, staff and community members,” Mortensen said in a statement. “Utah State has such a unique structure in how we fulfill our land-grant mission. I can’t wait to hop on the bus and get to know all of these areas better as we look to meet and adapt to needs of the communities we serve”.
The itinerary is as follows:
- Monday, Jan. 12: Mortensen begins the tour in northern Utah with a town hall in Brigham City at 8:30 a.m., followed by stops in Tooele and the Salt Lake Center.
- Tuesday, Jan. 13: The president will travel to the Uintah Basin to visit the Vernal and Roosevelt campuses, including an 8:15 a.m. town hall in Vernal.
- Wednesday, Jan. 14: The tour moves to southeastern Utah for meetings at the Moab and Blanding campuses.
- Thursday, Jan. 15: The final day of travel takes place at USU Eastern in Price. In addition to a 9 a.m. town hall, Mortensen will preside over a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new airport hangar at 11 a.m..
The week culminates on Friday, Jan. 16, with a presidential inauguration celebration hosted by the USU Board of Trustees. The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. at the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall in Logan. Doors are scheduled to open at 2:15 p.m., and for those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast live via Aggie Cast.
Mortensen’s tour highlights the university’s expansive reach beyond its main Logan campus, emphasizing its role as Utah’s land-grant institution dedicated to serving diverse regional populations.
