LOGAN – On the final day of the week-long period for candidate filings, three more hopefuls joined the upcoming Logan municipal election races, bringing the total number of candidates to 14 seeking one of three local elective positions.
Two-term Mayor Holly Daines announced in April that she would not seek re-election. The other two positions in contention during the upcoming election are the at-large seats now occupied by council members Amy Z. Anderson and Ernesto López.
The additional candidates who filed with the office of City Recorder Teresa Harris were Jerritt T. Bodrero for the post of mayor and Brian Seamons and Greg Brooks for a seat on the city council.
Given that plethora of candidates in the running for elective offices in Logan, a primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 12 will be necessary to winnow the field of hopefuls.
Bodrero is an employee of the Logan Parks & Recreation Department. He joins four other candidates in the running to replace Daines.
Those are Alanna Nafziger, Mark A. Anderson, Lewis Roesberry and Matthew P. Fatuesi.
Seamons is a self-employed general contractor working in the Logan area.
Brooks is a manager at Schreiber Food in Logan.
That pair join seven other hopefuls in seeking one of two at-large seats on the Logan Municipal Council.
Those candidates are incumbent Ernesto López, Gail B. Yost, Kristi Fatuesi, Katie Lee-Koven, Joshua Michael Molitor, Melissa Dahle and Reilly Samuel Fatuesi.
With the candidate filing period now closed, long-time veteran council member Amy Z. Anderson will not seek re-election.
The municipal election in Logan and other communities through Cache County is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
