BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho — The Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a crash where a semi-tractor and trailer struck a stationary traffic control vehicle early Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate-15 near Pocatello. The collision was the second time a traffic control vehicle was hit in the same location in less than 24 hours.
ISP reports the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the semi struck the traffic control vehicle, which was equipped with a crash attenuator. The impact heavily damaged the truck and tore open the semi’s trailer, spilling cargo across the highway. No serious injuries were reported in the collision.
Due to the damage and the spilled load, the right northbound lane of I-15 and the Exit 73 off-ramp were closed for hours.
ISP confirmed that the incident was the second at the site within a day, with another traffic control vehicle being struck Tuesday. Authorities are urging drivers to slow down, pay attention, and be prepared for work zone diversions.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
