LOGAN – It’s Christmas time in the city and the lights and sounds invite everyone to walk up and down the streets of downtown Logan and enjoy the superb holiday decorations. Most of all, look for the gingerbread homes on display in different locations at downtown merchants.

Gingerbread houses are on display in the windows of 12 downtown businesses. The Downtown Alliance is hoping the public will take part in the annual Parade of Gingerbread Homes Contest. The entries are divided into two categories, professional and community entries.

Gary Saxton of the Logan Downtown Alliance has been touting this year’s Gingerbread Home tour as a must-see Christmas experience. The gingerbread homes add to the holiday atmosphere and are another thing to do among the lighted businesses, trees and sidewalks at night.

“Everyone is welcome to participate by voting on their favorite edible wonderland,” Saxton said. “This year, each architect will have a chance to win one of six $100 Grand Prizes. Voting Ballots are available at downtown Logan host locations.”

The Gingerbread Home Contest is a self-guided tour and people go from place to place and look through the windows of the merchants who participate. There is a card at each location that can be used to cast a vote for their favorite gingerbread creation and a box to drop the card in.

“The Gingerbread Homes Contest goes from now until December 31,” Saxton said. “As we celebrate our 26th year hosting this much-loved local tradition, we are excited to announce this year’s culinary architects who designed incredible gingerbread creations.”
