BRIGHAM CITY — A second person has died from injuries in a vehicle rollover Friday night near Brigham City. The crash was reported around 10:40 p.m. along East Promontory Road.

Box Elder County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Cade Palmer said a preliminary investigation has determined five occupants were travelling northbound in a 1997 Toyota 4Runner. Near 2000 South, the vehicle drifted off the east side of the road, crossed over to the west shoulder and then over-corrected back to the east.

The 4Runner is believed to have rolled at least two times, landing on the driver’s side.

Palmer said it appears that none of the occupants were wearing seat belts, and were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

River Manning, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gage Manning, 17, was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The three other occupants, a 19-year-old male, 19-year-old female, and 15-year-old female, suffered serious injuries but are expected to recover.

Deputies suspect alcohol and speed as contributing factors in the crash.

Palmer said the sheriff’s office expressed their condolences to the families and friends of the injured and deceased who are grieving during this difficult time.
