Fire destroys barn and hay shed in Richmond – Cache Valley Daily

Hay fire in Richmond, Apr. 2, 2022.

RICHMOND — A two alarm fire Saturday afternoon destroyed a hay shed and barn in Richmond. The blaze was reported at 5:11 p.m. near 1109 South State St.

According to emergency radio traffic, first crews arriving on the scene reported the shed and barn were fully engulfed in flames.

There were no fire hydrants close by, hindering fire fighters efforts. Crews initiated the second alarm to mobilize tinder units that set up water tanks.

Due to both structures being fully engulfed in flames, fire fighters set up a defensive position to keep the fire from spreading.

Photos of the fire showed both structures completely destroyed.

There were no reports of any injuries from the fire.

The cause of the blaze and damage estimate is still being determined.
