LOGAN – U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-2nd Dist) will be making a campaign swing in northern Utah through Friday, Aug. 21 and even local Democrats are advertising the congressman’s rare availability here.
Moore will appear in Cache Valley on Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Taggart Student Center Ballroom on the campus of Utah State University as the last stop of the three-day tour of his district.
But Cache Democrats also took a jab at the three-term Republican in social media posts highlighting that event, saying that “… It’s time that our elected officials know that we expect them to represent Utah Interests and not corporate interests.”
In the upcoming mid-term election in November, Moore will face off against Democratic candidate Peter Crosby of Providence.
Since the Republican primary here in June, Moore has devoted most of his time to legislative duties in Washington, while his Democratic challenger has been seen at events practically everywhere throughout northern Utah.
Despite that disparity in terms of local visibility, recent polling projects that Moore will win re-election by a comfortable 2-to-1 margin in a district rated as solidly Republican that President Donald Trump carried by more than 17 percent in 2024.
Other stops on Moore’s campaign swing include the Boys and Girls Club Community Center in Box Elder County on Wednesday, Aug. 19; the Clearfield Arts Center in Davis County on Thursday, Aug. 20; and the Pleasant Valley Library in Weber County on Thursday, Aug. 20.
The USU Taggart Student Center is located at 650 North, 800 East on the university campus.
