LOGAN – The Smithfield America 250 committee wants to invite the public to an open-air concert at Merlin Olson Park on Sunday July 5, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Andrew Clark of the Smithfield 250 America patriotic program Together in Freedom planned on having the program in Smithfield, but it got too big to hold there. So, they changed the venue to Merilin Olson Park located at 300 E. Center Street. The public is invited.
“People planning to attend should bring blankets, lawn chairs to sit on and their own snacks,” Clark said. “We have the mayors of Smithfield and Logan as speakers. There will also be choirs, groups and individuals who will share their musical talents with us.”
The program will include the Cache Community Connections Interfaith Choir and a choir from Smithfield. The audience will also hear string and brass instruments as part of the program.
Logan Mayor Mark A. Anderson will speak. He has served on Logan City Council for six years before being elected as mayor.
Anderson was born and raised in Logan, he and his wife Ronnette decided early on in our career to make Logan and Cache Valley our home. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Utah State University.
Smithfield Mayor Aaron Rudie will also speak. He is a business owner and politician. He served 10 years as a Navy Sea Cadet Corps, including 8 years in leadership with the responsibility of mentoring young people in discipline and service.
