LOGAN – City officials here have added a Public Art Social to the list of events scheduled during the upcoming Downtown Logan Gallery Walk.

That event is slated for 6 to 9 p.m. in the Community Room of the new Logan Library on Friday, Sept. 27.

In that location, the scheduled social will feature mural artworks by Traci O’Very Covey in the Library Children’s Area; pieces in the Library’s permanent collection by Henri Moser, Calvin Fletcher, Jerry Fuhriman and Harrison Groutage; and construction banner murals by Zully Davila Amenero, Michael Bingham, Andrea Chamberlain, Courtney Hart, Vicki Speck and Tanner Stephenson.

The public will also be invited to view sculptures in the Library’s Plaza, including Cavern by Jason Manley and The Thinker by Gary Lee Price.

During their travels that evening, gallery walkers are also invited to view city murals in the downtown area. They are Strength of the Bear, Spirit of the Shoshone by Cole Eisenhour at 260 North Main Street and Cache Valley Favorites by Liesl Cannon at 39 West, 100 North (the west wall of Somebody’s Attic Thrift Boutique).

As usual, the Sept. 27 Logan Downtown Gallery Walk is being sponsored by the Cache Valley Center for the Arts and Logan City.

The quarterly Gallery Walk is also slated from 6 to 9 p.m. in the downtown area.

Local businesses are transformed into galleries, offering a variety of artwork for everyone to enjoy. Best of all, according to walk organizers, the event is free.

Local businesses and others participating in the Gallery Walk include S.E. Needham Jewelers at 141 North Main Street; the Cafe Ibis Gallery at 52 Federal Avenue; Logan Pride at 69 East, 100 North; Global Village Gifts at 53 East, 100 North; St. John’s Episcopal Church at 85 East, 100 North; the Pregnancy Resource Center at 90 North, 100 East (Suite 140); Sol Speak Yoga at 60 West, 100 North (Suite 120); Jump the Moon at 48 North, 100 West; Starbucks Logan Square at 37 North Main Street; the Alley on Center at 19 West Center Street; the Artists’ Gallery at 43 South Main Street; Fuhriman’s Framing at 75 South Main Street; the Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre at 59 South, 100 West; the Cache Bar & Grill at 119 South Main Street; and Coldwell Banker/Gold Key Reality at 135 South Main Street (Suite 100).

For those not inclined to stroll, the Ellen Eccles Theatre will also debut Thriller, the revived Halloween show by the Odyssey Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. that evening.

The dance troupe has plans to tour all of Utah during the upcoming Halloween season, with performances of its famed review slated here in Logan as well as the Peery’s Egyptian Theatre in Ogden, the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, the Grand Theatre in Salt Lake City and the Tuacahn Ampitheatre in Ivins.

Additional performances of Thriller here in Logan are slated for 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Ellen Eccles Theatre is located at 43 South Main Street.
