LOGAN — Police have announced they have a person of interest in the alleged kidnapping attempt near Logan High School. The incident was reported Tuesday morning, near 300 W. 150 South.

Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said officers detained a suspect Wednesday morning for questioning. They have also filed for several search warrants.

Police are not releasing the suspect’s identity while they determine whether or not the individual was involved in the incident.

Tuesday, 911 dispatch operators received a call around 7:50 a.m. reporting a male had just tried to kidnap a woman. The suspect was unsuccessful and drove off westbound from the scene.

Hooley said the alleged victim told officers, the suspect was wearing black clothing and a face mask. She had been walking along 300 North on her way to work, as she normally does each day. She was unable to provide any clues about the suspect’s age, height, weight, or ethnicity.

There were reportedly several witnesses to the assault. Footage of the suspect’s car was located from nearby cameras and police have been asking for assistance, identifying the possible suspect.

Hooley explained that the car is believed to be a 2005 to 2010 Honda Civic, gray or silver in color. However, no license plate number could be observed and there were no other known identifying characteristics.

The alleged victim, a woman in her 30’s, was punched in the face after a brief struggle, but is otherwise in good physical condition. Paramedics were called to the scene and treated her for a cut below her eye. She did not have to be hospitalized.

Hooley said multiple investigators and officers have been aggressively following up on leads since the incident was reported.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity is being asked to contact the Logan City Police Department.
