LOGAN — A 47-year-old Ogden woman was booked into jail Friday after allegedly forcing her way into her estranged sister’s home near Mount Sterling and assaulting her during a front-door struggle, according to law enforcement.
Alissa Cooley made an initial appearance in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from the Cache County Jail. She was charged with burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony, and assault, a class B misdemeanor, with both charges designated as domestic violence offenses.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Cache County sheriff’s deputies dispatched to the residence on reports of an ongoing physical dispute arrived to find Cooley actively stuck in the front doorframe. The victim was holding the door shut against her arm to keep her from entering further while Cooley continued to fight at the threshold.
Investigators report Cooley arrived unannounced at the residence, where she had not lived since 1995. She allegedly ripped open the door and unlawfully entered the home before the victim managed to push her back outside. As the victim attempted to lock the door, Cooley jammed her arm inside the frame and repeatedly scratched at the victim.
Deputies observed noticeable redness, bruising, scratch marks, and bleeding on the victim’s arms and neck. Investigators also reported finding blood on Cooley’s finger from the altercation.
According to court records, Cooley has a lengthy criminal history for thefts, going back to 1999. She is currently being held in jail temporarily without bail and scheduled to appear again in court Sept. 2.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
