LOGAN — A 56-year-old North Logan man has been arrested after a woman claimed he took photos and videos of her, and then threatened to send them to other people, according to law enforcement. Troy Dewayne Cronquist was booked June 12 into the Cache County Jail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were notified of a sexual extortion case in May. A 58-year-old woman claimed Cronquist had taken explicit pictures and videos of her without her consent or knowledge, and was threatening to share them with her friends and employer.

The alleged victim told deputies, Cronquist had allegedly texted some of the photos and videos to her, threatening to share them with others if she did not continue the relationship with him. He also sent her explicit pictures of himself with another woman, asking her to engage in sexual acts with a third person.

The woman claimed that she received text messages, gifts, flowers and other unsolicited items from Cronquist. This continued to happen even after she had broken up with the suspect and asked to end all contact, the arrest affidavit detailed.

Deputies also spoke to a friend of the alleged victim, who claimed Cronquist had sent an explicit picture of the woman to her.

A search warrant was received for Cronquist’s phone. Law enforcement served that warrant to the suspect on May 28.

Cronquist reportedly admitted that he had previously been in a relationship with the alleged victim. He disclosed that explicit photos were taken and shared with another woman, stating that he couldn’t understand why that was an issue.

According to jail records, Cronquist was booked on suspicion of committing sexual extortion, a third-degree felony; along with stalking and distribution of an intimate image, both class A misdemeanors. He was later released, pending arraignment on formal charges in Logan’s 1st District Court.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
