BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Firefighters reached 75% containment on the 199-acre Harley Fire Saturday evening, allowing emergency officials to lift all evacuation orders even as a new wildfire ignited elsewhere in Box Elder County.
Box Elder County officials and Utah Fire Info announced at 6:15 p.m. Saturday that the Level 3 “Evacuate Now” notice for Harley Drive and the Level 1 “Ready” status for Radio Hill had both been canceled. Residents were permitted to return home and resume normal status as crews stabilized the perimeter.
As containment increased on the Harley Fire, local resources were dispatched to a new fire start in Chokecherry Canyon near Promontory Point, located in the Fort Ranch and Messix Peak area west of Corinne.
The new blaze, named the Chokecherry Fire, was estimated at 50 acres with active fire behavior as firefighting crews arrived on scene.
