NORTH LOGAN – A new location for Morty’s Cafe officially opened on Saturday, April 12th in North Logan with a ribbon cutting, marking the third location for the brand in Cache Valley and fifth overall location in the state. Part-owner and co-founder Preston Parker says this new restaurant, located at 111 East 1600 North just north of WalMart, includes a feature no other Cache Valley location of Morty’s Cafe has.
“We were looking for drive-thrus,” Parker explained at the ribbon cutting. “We looked downtown, we looked at the old Burger King which is now Cafe Rio. We looked at various opportunities. Where we had opened Providence and we had campus, the northern part of Cache Valley made sense. When this came available, which had a drive-thru, we targeted this place.”
Parker was joined by business partners Andy and Chris Jordan (who are brothers), along with Cache Chamber of Commerce President Jamie Andrus, North Logan Mayor Lindsay Peterson, North Park Police and other dignitaries for the ribbon cutting to mark the restaurant’s official opening.
“I’ve always loved the brand and the product,” said Chris Jordan.

The restaurant’s original location adjacent to Utah State University, which opened in September 2014, has become a hub for university students and faculty, but the lack of parking has made it a challenge for the community. When they opened the second location in Providence next to Macey’s in December 2023, they could now provide ample parking and visibility. But the Morty’s Cafe ownership and management team always recognized the need and growth opportunity for a drive-thru thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Because of COVID,” Parker explained, “the drive-thru was a demand that we weren’t meeting. Now we can.”
But it has also presented some challenges. The Morty’s Cafe team has needed to learn how to process orders more quickly and even brought in consultants to help.

“We talked about doing a limited menu at the drive-thru but we decided against that, to do the full menu. We did revamp our menu recently. We’ve got various items that didn’t exist before, organized in a little bit different way.
“The drive-thru has been really successful in the soft opening. The team keeps up and the reviews are really good that people can get through the drive-thru pretty quickly.”
The ownership team expressed excitement about being in North Logan in part due to the growth happening in the area, but also because it is relatively close to hundreds of teenagers.
“Other than a drink shop we’re the closest restaurant with a drive-thru to Green Canyon High School,” Parker exclaimed. “We think that with their open campus lunch hour that they will be able to come down here, get though the drive-thru or even get a pick up order.”
The restaurant has limited seating inside but patrons can also eat outside on a small patio area with tables and chairs in front of the restaurant.
