LOGAN — Authorities issued a mandatory evacuation order late Friday night for residents in several Logan neighborhoods as a fast-moving wildland fire threatens structures.
The Logan City Police Department ordered all residents within a 1-mile radius of 600 East and Canyon Road to leave the area immediately. The evacuation notice, broadcast via emergency alerts just before 11 p.m., affects the Island, Cliffside, Canyon Road, and Logan Canyon areas. Police scanner traffic indicated that officers were actively clearing homes along 400 North, between 400 East and 600 East.
A distinct orange glow and heavy smoke were visible from Canyon Road as the fire spread. Reports from residents in the Cliffside area indicated a massive blaze, with scanner traffic suggestied that some homes may have already sustained damage.
Emergency responders are currently descending on the area to combat the flames. Officials are establishing a primary command post near Herm’s Inn to coordinate the multi-agency firefighting efforts.

Emergency Shelter: A temporary shelter has been established at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse on 100 South in the Island area.

Emergency Lines: Dispatchers are requesting that residents do not call 911 for information regarding the evacuations to keep lines open for life-safety emergencies.
Authorities stated that updates will be broadcast to residents via reverse 911 calls as new information becomes available.
