LOGAN — Logan’s postponed Pioneer Day fireworks display has been rescheduled for late August, city officials announced Friday night.

The fireworks, originally planned for the July 24 state holiday, were called off shortly before they were set to begin as radar showed lightning and severe winds moving across Cache Valley. Municipal officials cited strict safety protocols and public safety hazards in their decision to delay the show.

The celebration is now slated for Saturday, Aug. 29, at Willow Park. The fireworks will follow the free Heroes Tribute Concert, which will feature a live performance by musician Cole Hartley.

According to the Logan City Parks and Recreation Department, the community concert will lead directly into the aerial display, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Residents and visitors planning to attend the event are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks.

North Logan officials also canceled their fireworks display at Elk Ridge Park due to similar weather conditions. They have rescheduled their display for Aug. 22 in conjunction with the city’s scheduled “Redneck Night” celebration.
