BOX ELDER COUNTY — A UTV driver was killed after he collided with a truck at high rates of speed in Thatcher, Monday afternoon.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the man was operating a UTV on a dirt road that crosses SR-102 into a church parking lot near 11475 W. 10400 North.
At the same time, a Chevrolet truck pulling a flatbed trailer was driving westbound on SR-102.
According to troopers, the driver of the UTV attempted to cross the road at a high rate of speed, but failed to yield the right of way and collided with the right rear tire of the truck.
The driver of the UTV was ejected and died at the scene, troopers said.
The truck jackknifed and came to a rest blocking the roadway.
The driver and passenger of the truck were not injured.
