BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Family and friends are rallying to support Marcos Alvarez after he sustained critical injuries in a serious single-vehicle crash near Tremonton on Oct. 12.
According to emergency crews, Alvarez was found unresponsive and trapped inside his vehicle after it went off Highway 13 near the Elwood Overpass. Bystanders stopped to help before paramedics arrived and worked to free him.
Emergency responders worked to extricate Alvarez from his vehicle before transporting him to a regional hospital for emergency medical care. He remains hospitalized as medical teams treat multiple traumatic injuries.
Alvarez has already undergone surgeries on his hip and spleen. While medical personnel report his condition as stable, doctors expect a lengthy and arduous road to recovery. He faces additional upcoming procedures, including a treatment to drain fluid from his brain.
To help ease the sudden financial strain, family members and friends have launched a community fundraiser. Organizers noted that the combination of mounting hospital bills, specialized rehabilitation expenses, and prolonged time away from work poses an overwhelming hardship for Alvarez during his care.
“Between hospital bills, ongoing medical expenses, recovery needs, and the possibility of being unable to work while he heals, the financial burden can quickly become overwhelming,” organizers shared in a statement requesting community assistance.
Supporters are asking the public for donations to assist with medical bills and living expenses while Alvarez focuses on healing. Beyond financial contributions, organizers urge community members to share the fundraiser online and keep Alvarez in their thoughts and prayers.
Organizers expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support shown since the accident, emphasizing that every contribution and message brings comfort to Alvarez and his family during this challenging journey.
