LOGAN – The City of Logan has cancelled its Annual Spring Clean-Up, a tradition that has previously allowed residents to pile green waste at their curbs to be picked up by city crews.

In lieu of that service, city officials said that public works crews will now focus on performing needed maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, waterway and utilities.

That change of focus, they said, is necessary to keep up with Logan’s growing community.

In a public service announcement released on Mar. 6, officials warned residents not to place any spring clean-up debris at their curbside this year.

“It will NOT be picked up,” the PSA emphasized. “Green waste placed on the curbside … will be the responsibility of the resident to dispose of.”

The alternatives to the city’s traditional curbside green waste clean-up are obtaining a green waste disposal can from the Logan City Environmental Department; depositing green waste at designated bulk waste locations; and taking green waste to the Logan Landfill.

The PSA said that the price for a curbside green waste can — which will be picked up by the Environmental Department on a weekly basis — will be reduced to $4 per month beginning April 1, 2024.

City residents can sign up for green waste can pick-up service by calling 435-716-9755 or by visiting the Logan City Environmental Department website at www.loganutah.org/government/departments/environmental/index.php.

The city will, however, be picking-up green bulk waste from designated locations from Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 26.

Those locations will be the parking stalls at 1350 North at Lundstrom Park; the parking lot at Hyrum Gibbons Mount Logan Park; the east parking stalls at Merlin Olsen Park; and the Bridger Park.

Residents should look for dumpsters or designated dumping locations at those parks.

Finally, green waste can also be taken to the green waste facility at the Logan Landfill, where signage will direct residents to green waste disposal areas.

For details of what will be accepted at pick-up sites and/or how to properly dump green waste, the PSA advises residents to visit the Logan City Street Division website at www.loganutah.org/government/departments/public_works/streets/index.php.
