LOGAN – Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, Cache Valley children and their parents will enjoy a free performance of A BEE STORY at the Ellen Eccles Theatre on Monday, Feb. 24.
Local families reserving tickets for that 7:30 performance have already ensured a sold-out show, according to Wendi Hassan, the executive director Cache Valley Center for the Arts.
“We also have a waiting list of about 100 people still hoping to get to see A BEE STORY,” she adds.
The Australian performers of the show emphasizing environmentalism, sustainability and community will also give two free matinee performances for about 900 local school children, Ms. Hassan explains.
A BEE STORY is a unique example of physical comedy for children and families incorporating a kaleidoscope of circus, acrobatics, dance and live music.
It tells the story of a Queen Bee and a Worker Bee who must work together to rebuild their hive that was destroyed by a bushfire. But things never quite go to plan …
The engaging show is the result of a collaboration between director Robbie Curtis with musician/performer Lizzie McRae.
A veteran of both Australian ballet, dance and circus companies, Curtis founded his own ARC Circus in 2020 to create risk-taking, narrative-driven performance works that are emotionally engaging, aesthetically beautiful and accessible to international audiences.
The free local performance of A BEE STORY was made possible by financial contributions from the Wasatch/Logan Arts Foundation, the Cache County RAPZ Tax, the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, George S. & Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation; L & L Enterprises, Powder Mountain, the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation – Russell Family, the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, Peter & Holly Daines, the Measom Family Foundation, Cache Valley Bank, Cache Valley Media Group and the Logan Downtown Alliance, among others.
CacheARTS officials are asking anyone who has already reserved tickets for the free performance of A BEE STORY on Feb. 24 but will not be able to attend to notify them so that people on the show’s waiting list can be served.
The Ellen Eccles Theatre is located at 43 South Main Street in downtown Logan.
