SALT LAKE CITY – Members of the Utah House of Representatives have elected local lawmaker  Rep. Casey Snider (R-Paradise) as the new House Majority Leader in the Legislature.

Snider was elected to that leadership post in a special election held on June 3 at the State Capitol. He will replace outgoing majority leader Jefferson Moss, who resigned from the Legislature following his appointment as Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity.

Also elected to new GOP leadership posts were Rep. Candice Pierucci (R-Riverton) as House Majority Whip and Rep. Bridger Bolinder (R-Grantsville) as House Majority Assistant Whip.

“Our leadership teams is committed to serving the members of our caucus and the people of Utah with integrity and foresight as we continue to advance meaningful policy for the benefit of every Utahn,” said Snider, after the leadership election.

A native of Liberty who now resides in Paradise, Snider is a farmer, a land conservationist and a volunteer fire fighter.

He holds undergraduate degrees from Utah State University and a master degree in environmental science/policy from Johns Hopkins University.

His previous public service experience includes working as a legislative director for U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT) and as a congressional staffer for the House Committee on Natural Resources in Washington.

Snider has risen rapidly in the ranks of GOP leadership in the Utah Legislature since being appointed to that office in 2018.

He had previously served as assistant majority whip in the Utah House.
