FRANKLIN- Idaho Days celebration began Thursday, June 26 and goes until Saturday, June 28.  

Jo Samia, coordinator for Idaho Days, said the three days of celebration has something for everyone. The Lion’s Club hamburger stand throughout Idaho Days.  

On Friday June 27 they will hold two activities for children from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Farm Bureau will sponsor the Kids corner with activities for children. Following the Kids Corner there will be a Bike/Scooter Parade down Main Street. The much-anticipated Miss Idaho Pageant will be held in the Franklin Stake Center just west of the park at 6 p.m. Samia said. “At 8:30 p.m. we will have the Movie in the Park.”

On Saturday June 28, most of the activities take place. Everything will be held at the city park or at the Franklin Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints next to it.  Starting at 7 a.m. the Flag Ceremony and 5/K Run are scheduled to begin. From 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. the Elks will host breakfast for $10 a plate.

“At 7:30 a.m. we have an exercise class we call High Fit in the park,” she said. “It is kind of like Zumba.”

At 8 a.m. the softball tournament which began on Thursday will have their final game.

The Idaho Days Parade will go down Main St. at 10 a.m. All vendor booths and bounce houses will open after the parade.

At 12 p.m. the Fire Truck Hose Down will be at 12:30 p.m. and the Spelling Bee will take place on the east side of the Stake Center.

 “From 1 to 4 p.m. local performers will take the stage again at the Franklin Stake Center,” Samia said. “At 7:30 p.m. we will have Karaoke for those 16 years and older. People will need to sign up before they will be able to perform.”

Mitch Clark from Nashville will be the entertainment from 8:30 p.m. and everyone will sing the National Anthem at 9:55 just before the firework show begins.

“The parade and fireworks show are our most popular events,” Samia said.
