LOGAN — Law enforcement was called out to help a man who was threatening to harm himself or others Monday in Wellsville. The incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19, at a home near 1095 S. 200 East.

Residents inside the home had reported the 33-year-old male suspect was making violent threats. They then claimed to have heard a gunshot, before fleeing the house and calling 911.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Ramirez said deputies set up a perimeter around the home and began attempting to communicate with the individual. They also evacuated neighbors on both sides of the home and kept people from the area.

After about an hour, deputies were able to take the suspect into custody. He reportedly had no injuries.

Law enforcement searched the residence and found a firearm, along with a bullet hole in a bedroom wall.

Ramirez said there was no threat to the community and no one was injured. The suspect, who was not identified, was transferred to a facility to receive psychiatric care.
