LOGAN — Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help, identifying two individuals suspected of stealing from shoppers at a Logan supermarket. The man and woman were caught on security camera video leaving Winco Foods and driving away in a gray minivan.
The Logan City Police Department posted photos on social media of the suspects, Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The man is seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts, a ball cap and glasses. The woman has brown hair, and is wearing white pants, a long-sleeved ivory colored shirt and glasses.
Officers believe the female suspect distracted an 80-year-old woman away from her cart, while the male suspect grabbed several wallets from the purse inside of the shopping cart. The suspects were likely using earbuds to communicate with each other and abruptly left the store after securing the stolen wallets.
In September, police warned residents about a rash of thefts occurring at local retail stores. The suspects would look for customers who leave their purse in the top of a cart while shopping. One of the thieves would distract the shopper by asking for help, while the other individual removes the customer’s wallet from the purse.
Logan City Police Lt. Brad Franke explained at the time, the criminals are likely not from the community and appear to be a part of organized crime rings. They seem to be targeting the valley, taking advantage of the kindness and generosity in the area.
Police are reminding shoppers to be mindful of their purse and other valuables left in a shopping cart. They also recommend citizens keep their purses on their person while shopping.
Anyone who recognizes the two suspects is asked to contact law enforcement.
