LOGAN — A 16-year-old boy is facing vandalism charges relating to the recent Pride flag thefts at the Logan Pride Center.

The Logan City Police Department reported the male suspect was referred to the 1st District Juvenile Court on theft and criminal mischief charges relating to the cutting down and stealing of the flags in front of the Logan Pride foundation building. Both charges are being enhanced under the Utah hate crime statue.

The suspect’s identity is not being released due to the boy’s age.

Police expressed appreciation for public’s help identifying the individual.

Over the past several months, members of the Logan Pride Center have reported multiple flags vandalized or taken. Security camera video showed two individuals on August 9, approach the center and cut down the two flags in the front lawn, before running away.

Assistant Police Chief Curtis Hooley said people should learn to respect other people’s viewpoints and their property and they certainly would like to hold them accountable for when they do stuff like this.

Police say there remains one unidentified suspect and they are continuing to investigate the crimes.
