December 23, 1930 – March 1, 2022 (age 91)
Joyce DeMulling, of Smithfield, Utah has passed to the other side to join her loving husband, Richard. She passed away on Tuesday, March 1 , 2022 in the morning, at the age of 91. She had many friends and family visit her before she left us.
She was born on December 23, 1930 in Kimball, Idaho to Joseph Howard and Lillian Nielsen Anthony. She was the 6th of 7 children. She attended Kimball Grade School and graduated from Firth High School. She also attended Ricks College, in Rexburg, Idaho.
She married her high school sweetheart, Dean Sterling Hone, in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1949. They had four children, JoDeane, Craig, Liesa, and Jeffrey. In 1970, Joyce and Dean were later divorced. She married Richard Alan DeMulling in 1973, gaining two children, David and Cynthia.
She has 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. They all brought her great joy.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She had many passions and talents. Her biggest one was music. She taught piano lessons for 37 years. She played the organ and led many Ward Choirs. She conducted Handel’s Messiah in the Kent and Renton, Washington Stakes for many years. She wrote and directed many wonderful Christmas programs and ward activities.
She was also a knowledgeable and talented gospel teacher. She especially loved teaching the youth of the church as a seminary teacher for many years. She was also Stake Seminary Supervisor for 4 years.
Sewing was another passion, sewing clothes for her children, wedding dresses, as well as many, many quilts that she donated to the Church Humanitarian Program.
She was a Kidney Dialysis assistant from 1989 to 1996 and dearly loved her patients.
She and Richard served a mission for the church in Nauvoo, Illinois, in 2000 and 2001. She was able to put her musical talent to work in many different ways there and was so grateful for the opportunity to be in Nauvoo. She served as an Ordinance Worker in the Seattle Temple for 6 years, a calling she also truly loved.
She lived most of her life in the Kent, Renton, Maple Valley, Washington area and the last 15 years in Smithfield, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by all 6 of her children and their spouses.
Her viewing will be held on Friday, March 11th at Allen-Hall Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. And her funeral will be at noon, also available by Zoom.
Interment will be in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Renton, WA.
