BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a wildfire that burned 362 acres in Box Elder County, emergency officials announced Monday night.
The East Promontory Fire, located about 18 miles south of Howell, drew a coordinated response from local, state and federal agencies. Air resources successfully mapped the burn area after ground crews halted the fire’s advancement.
Officials reported that no evacuations or road closures are currently in place. The blaze did impact a few power lines in the area, and residents are advised to check Rocky Mountain Power for updates regarding potential outages.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire officials strongly urged the public and media to avoid the zone to keep rural roads clear for emergency crews and heavy equipment. Authorities also reminded the public that unauthorized drone flights are strictly prohibited, noting that interfering drones will force all firefighting aircraft to be grounded.
