LOGAN — A Brigham City man has admitted to stealing tens of thousands of dollars in antique coins and firearms while working on a home remodel in Cache County.
Adam Richard Swenson, 48, appeared April 22 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to two counts of theft, both second-degree felonies.
According to prosecutors, North Park police officers began investigating Swenson Jan. 24, when a victim reported that items went missing during a home remodel that began in the summer of 2025. To help fund the project, the homeowner had listed a personal coin collection for sale on eBay.
The victim moved the coins from a safe into a main-level cabinet where remodeling workers, including Swenson, were operating. Over several months, the homeowner noticed the coin containers felt lighter and ultimately had to cancel online sales as specific coins vanished.
Police documents outline the estimated value of the stolen property:
• Missing antique coins valued at $20,125.
• Missing firearms valued at $15,388.
During the investigation, police interviewed several of Swenson’s relatives. Relatives reported that in September 2025, Swenson showed them a collection of 70 to 100 coins, claiming he acquired them in Texas by trading cocaine. One relative also noted Swenson displayed a long-barrel revolver, which Swenson claimed he received as payment for a job. Swenson’s ex-wife told family members he never owned a coin collection.
Swenson reportedly gave approximately eight coins to one family member. Those coins were eventually handed over to another relative, who returned them to the victim in January. The victim confirmed the coins were his by matching them to his eBay listing photos.
On Feb. 17, officers served a search warrant at Swenson’s residence, recovering antique coins and firearms. Swenson immediately admitted to taking the firearms and coins without the owner’s knowledge.
According to court records, Swenson remains in the Cache County Jail being held without bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 10.
