LOGAN — A 49-year-old Nibley man already charged with sexually abusing a young girl 16 years ago is now facing more allegations. Scott Kidman remains in the Cache County Jail since being arrested in September 2025.
Kidman appeared Wednesday in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with two new counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and two counts of object rape, all first-degree felonies. The charges are in addition to the three other counts of object rape of a child, a first-degree felony, he was charged with nine months ago.
According to the new charging documents, the latest crimes stem from the alleged sexual abuse of children Kidman was babysitting. They occurred more than a decade ago around 2015.
Prosecutors claim Kidman abused his position of trust while babysitting three siblings. One victim, who was 8 years old at the time, disclosed during a forensic interview that Kidman repeatedly molested her while she sat on his lap. A second sibling, who was approximately 11 years old, told detectives Kidman raped her over the period of six to seven months.
A third sibling, who was 15 or 16 at the time, reported Kidman would show her pornography on his phone. She also noted there were holes in a closet leading into the bathroom, which detectives later verified during a search warrant, finding holes that provided a view of the bathroom mirror and shower.
Kidman was originally arrested after Cache County sheriff’s deputies received a delayed child sex abuse report. The alleged victim claimed Kidman had molested her numerous times years ago. The woman said the abuse began around January 2010, when she was 8 years old.
During Wednesday’s video arraignment, Judge Brian Cannell ordered Kidman to remain in jail without bail and appear again in court May 14.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
