Clark Harvey Martin, 86, passed peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2022, with his family by his side from dementia-related issues.
Clark was born December 22, 1935, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Galen and Mary Martin. Clark graduated from Steubenville High School in Steubenville, Ohio, and attended Indiana Institute of Technology.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and loved his country.
Clark owned and operated a successful service station through Gulf Oil Distributors in Bellaire, OH, where he won many awards.
Hard work and service were the hallmarks of Clark’s life. He worked for many years and retired from Thiokol/ATK. Retirement only lasted a few weeks though because Clark had the drive to work. He then spent the next 19 years working for the Walmart Corporation at their distribution center and then at various stores. His cheerfulness, work ethic, and ability to “MacGyver” anything earned him many awards and accolades.
Two of the best days of his life were in 1975 when he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and subsequently met his future wife, Linda.
He was a very gentle and humble man, but one thing he was very proud and grateful for was his 48-year sobriety from alcohol addiction. He spent countless hours mentoring others to help them overcome their addictions as well.
Clark was a faithful minister to his neighbors and friends. From shoveling snow until he couldn’t stand up straight to fixing bike tires, he was always serving. He preferred to listen rather than talk. He served as a gentle listening ear to countless people.
His happy smile drew so many people to him, especially little children. He was a safe and kind presence and could calm anyone by just being near them.
He had a witty sense of humor and could sniff out a chocolate chip cookie from a mile away.
Clark served in many callings in church service and loved sharing his testimony of Jesus Christ.
He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. Each of them has no doubt of his love for them because he often told them, but more importantly, he showed them.
Clark is survived by his loving wife, Linda, and five children: Kenneth Randall Martin, Brigham City, UT; Mary Sue (Scott) Walters, McKinney, TX; Ben (Jessica) Martin, Bountiful, UT; Carol (Ben) Huff, Cedar City, UT; and Kori (Kedrick) Ridges, Kaysville, UT; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his four siblings whom he loved very much: Jacqueline (Doug) Foster, Eric Martin, Brewster (Nancy) Martin, and Gordon (Cathy) Martin.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and younger sister, Carole.
Viewings will be Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
The funeral service will be Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Viewings and funeral will be held at Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, UT, 205 S. 100 E.
Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery.
