BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah The Brushy Canyon Fire has expanded to an estimated 8,000 acres and remains 0% contained after extreme winds fueled its spread, fire officials announced Thursday night.

Aviation resources first noticed the blaze on Wednesday evening, burning on Promontory Point. The cause of the fire is still being determined.

Recent wind gusts reaching 75 mph pushed flames across an existing dozer line, allowing the wildfire to breach containment barriers and continue moving through the area.

Wildfire officials warned that conditions remain dynamic and advised the public to stay alert, avoid the region, and follow directives from local officials and emergency crews.
