LOGAN — The Blind Hollow Fire in Logan Canyon has burned an estimated 15 to 20 acres and reached 20% containment, forcing the canyon roadway to remain closed through noon Monday, according to fire officials.
The blaze sparked Sunday night near Temple Fork, forcing law enforcement to close the highway around 6:30 p.m. due to fear the blaze would jump the road. Campers nearby were also told to be ready to evacuate if the fire worsened.
Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish hot spots, strengthen containment lines, and prevent the wildfire from expanding.
Once Logan Canyon reopens to traffic Monday afternoon, motorists should expect delays near Temple Fork and Blind Hollow as emergency crews and heavy equipment continue working along the highway. Temple Fork Road will remain closed through Monday.
The firefighting effort is being coordinated alongside the Cache County Sheriff’s Office and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
