LOGAN – The folk band The Last Wild Buffalo will be among the headliners at the first-ever Center Street Art-Beat Festival on Saturday, Aug. 24 in Logan.

That event – organized by the Alley on Center Street – is slated for noon to 10 p.m., during which period the downtown block of Center Street will be closed to traffic for the outdoor fest.

Other headlining performers at the all-day event will include the bands The Painted Roses, Hatchback and Sky Olsen and the Valley.

To keep the music going throughout the day, other performers will include the Moonspinners, Wildwing, the Lonely Hearts Club Band, the High Desert Surfers, DJ Chincinnati, Holly Conger, Kristina Evonne, Bryce Wood, Zach Martinez, Craig Meacham and John Elwood Morgan.

One of the purposes of the festival is to showcase both local musical and artistic talent while fostering a sense of community, according to organizer Caylee Funk from the Alley on Center Street. The event was inspired by Funk’s own experience using art and music to improve her mental health.

Another goal of the festival is to boost awareness of the local Recovery Café, a Logan non-profit group that hosts weekly meetings and provides a safe place for those in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction to hang out and socialize with friends in a clean and sober environment.

Funk said that the Recovery Cafe helped to change her family’s life for the better. She hopes that the Center Street Art-Beat fest will raise awareness of the café’s benefits and increase local support for its efforts.

In addition to the bands and artisans, the free Art-Beat event will also feature more than 45 vendor booths representing local businesses and food trucks.

Joining the Alley on Center Street as sponsors of the Art-Beat fest are Anderson’s Seed and Garden, Out West Artisan Market, Presidio Real Estate, the Little Jamm, Logan City, the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce, Lucid Hair Collective, Lavender & Sage Ink, Prodigy Brewing and The Cache Bar.

The Recovery Café is located at 124 South, 600 West in Logan.

The Alley on Center Street is located at 19 West Center in Logan.
