LOGAN – The skies around Logan will be filled with thunderous jets, the buzz of airplanes and spectacular parachuters falling from unimaginable heights at the Cache AirFest 2025. The event will be held at the Logan-Cache Airport located at 2500 North 900 West Logan, on Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Friday night before the airshow there will be a meet and greet for the pilots that will be flying the next day with a $10 charge for food. Cache Valley Big Band will be there playing music.

“We are expecting 200 people to be there,” said Andreas “Baron” Wesemann, a Utah State University professor of aviation technology. “Nancey Porter, the daughter of Floyd Hansen, will be there to talk about her father. Hansen trained thousands of pilots and was responsible for some of the upgrades at the airport.”

From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be music and food. At 7 p.m. they will give out awards. And at 7:30 there will be music and dancing for the Hanger Hop.

“The airshow will begin the next morning,” he said. “This is an aviation celebration for Cache Valley and the surrounding communities sponsored by USU Aviation Technology and Leading Edge Aviation.”

The last time they had an airshow of this magnitude was about 10 years ago.

“We haven’t had an open house at the airport in the last 20 to 30 years,” he said. “There will be a parachute group from Ogden that will drop in to the airport as part of the show.”

The air show was approved by the FFA and will include local Brad Wursten and his aerobatic MXS who performs in airshows across the country. The Red Thunder, a couple of pilots who do stunts piloting two Russian YAK’s, will also be there. One of the pilots, Barry Hancock, is a native of Heber City.

“We have invited Danny Sorenson, another Utah air show pilot based in Bountiful,” he said. “Not only is he an aerobatic pilot, he designed and built the biplane he flies.”

A commemorative B-25 will be there, and they will be offering flights for people. They are making reservations for those that would like to ride in the warbird. The B-25 Mitchell ‘Maid in the Shade’ WWII Warbird, made famous for its role in the Doolittle Raid, will be on public display Tuesday through Sunday.

“There will be historic warplanes and experimental aircraft on display,” he said. “We will plan to have a STEM center for kids.”

In the past they have had about 3,000 people attend the events at the airport and they would like to boost attendance to 5,000 people this year.

Bob Low, the airport manager, said everyone at the airport is excited about the airshow.

“We will have a lot of pilots from other places flying in to have their airplanes on display,” he said. “Utah State University will also have their airplanes and helicopters available for people to have a look at them.”
