BOX ELDER COUNTY — The Tremonton-Garland Police Department has acquired a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected, or MRAP, vehicle. Chief Dustin Cordova announced the arrival of the armored vehicle, valued at over $725,000, which was secured through a federal grant at no cost to local taxpayers.
The department emphasized the MRAP’s role in officer and community safety during dangerous situations. The vehicle is intended for use in critical emergencies such as hostage rescue operations, active shooter incidents, and high-risk search warrants, providing what the department calls “life-saving armor, mobility, and confidence.”
Cordova said the acquisition, two years in the making, reflects the police department’s commitment to preparedness and safety in both Tremonton and Garland.
