BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho — Southbound Interstate 15 was motionless for five hours Saturday night after a two-vehicle collision caused a Jeep to roll into the median, authorities said.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m. near milepost 59 near Inkom. According to Idaho State Police, an 84-year-old Helena, Montana, man was driving a Ford F-150 towing a travel trailer when he was rear-ended by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 29-year-old woman from Grace, Idaho.
The impact caused the Jeep to roll over. Investigators noted the woman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, while the man was restrained. Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital; their current conditions have not been released.
The interstate remained closed until late Saturday night as crews cleared the wreckage. Idaho State Police were assisted by the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue.
