LOGAN – Local political activists are being encouraged to turn out for another “No Kings” protest on Saturday, Mar. 28.

That demonstration is slated for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cache County Historic Courthouse to show resistance to the policies of the Trump administration and what organizers brand as an “illegal war” with Iran.

The “No Kings” protest here is being promoted by We the People Cache Valley, an affiliate of the nationwide Indivisible organization, and other left-leaning groups.

Those organizations are encouraging anti-Trump activists to “bring friends, wear costumes, be prepared to march down Main Street with impactful signs, enjoy live music and a few short speeches.”

The protest group’s website says that “what began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever.”

Would-be protest participants are asked to register by going online to https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/902718/

The unusual late morning timing of the Cache Valley protest is intended to give participants time to attend a later “No Thrones, No Crowns” rally in Salt Lake City.

Organizers predict that the Cache Valley and Salt Lake City protests will likely be part of the largest nationwide action to oppose President Donald Trump to date.

The rally in Salt Lake City is slated for 2 p.m. at Washington Square Park, followed by a march to the State Capital and further demonstrations at that location.

A core principle behind all “No Kings” events is a commitment to nonviolent action, according to the group’s website.

“We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events,” the website explains. “Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”

That specific mention of “weapons” is an obvious reference to an incident that occurred during a protest last summer in Salt Lake City, when armed “peacekeeper” Matthew Scott Alder shot and killed unarmed bystander Folasa Ah Loo.

Alder has been charged with manslaughter and been named in a negligence lawsuit brought by An Loo’s family along with other protest organizers.

Originally founded by Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, the nationwide Indivisible group is a progressive grassroots movement designed to combat authoritarianism and promote democracy by organizing local activists to pressure Congress.

Indivisible was launched on in 2016 to emulate Tea Party tactics for resisting the Trump agenda by focusing on lobbying, public demonstrations and accountability.

In addition to Indivisible Salt Lake, other organizers of the SLC protest on Mar. 28 will include the Salt Lake Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, the American Civil Liberties Union in Utah, the Utah State Progressive Caucus, the League of Women Voters, Mormons with Hope and others.

The Cache County Historic Courthouse is located at 199 North Main Street in Logan.

Washington Square Park is located at 451 South State Street in downtown Salt Lake City.
