LOGAN — A 30-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman several times during the past month, according to law enforcement. Gabriel Enrique Bustamante was booked June 16 into the Cache County Jail after police were called to his home.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the Logan City Police Department was called to a reported domestic dispute on the southwest side of town. The complainant provided officers with several videos of a delayed assault.
The video reportedly showed the alleged victim getting punched repeatedly by Bustamante, her boyfriend. The woman had bruising on several areas of her body and blood coming from the left side of her face.
The alleged victim claimed Bustamante had cornered her against a wall and strangled her because they were arguing about his mistress. During another incident, he allegedly grabbed her right arm, biting her, and putting her into a headlock.
Bustamante was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with aggravated assault producing loss of consciousness, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and misdemeanors for assaulting a pregnant woman, domestic violence in the presence of a child, propelling a bodily substance and property destruction.
Judge Brian Cannell set bail at $10,000, under the agreement that Bustamante have no contact with the alleged victim. He also ordered the suspect to appear again in court June 23.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
