LOGAN — A 37-year-old woman accused of breaking into the home of a family member and stealing a large supply of firearms and other items is going to seek help in a court treatment program.

Audrey Winters appeared in 1st District Court with her public defender Michael McGinnis on Monday. He told Judge Thomas Willmore that his client wished to be referred to Mental Health Court, a weekly program that is overseen by a judge and focuses on treatment and therapy.

Judge Willmore granted the request and said he would transfer her case so that she can be screened for the program.

Police arrested Winters in September after she allegedly broke into her deceased father’s Logan home and stole around 50 guns, some reloading equipment, a couple televisions and some cash. The burglary was reported by a family member, who now lives in the residence. Prosecutors later filed the 39 charges of theft against her, all second-degree felonies.
