CACHE COUNTY – Non-partisan voter advocacy groups here will host three candidate forums in the form of community picnics during the months of July and August.

Those events will be sponsored by Our Community Cache Valley and the Cache Valley Chapter of the League of Women Voters, according to spokesman Jim Evans.

The picnics will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Jens Johansen Park in Logan on Wednesday, July 15; at Virgil Gibbons Park on Nibley on Wednesday, July 29; and on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at James Mack Memorial Park in Smithfield.

Evans says the groups have invited candidates in all local open races to participate, including hopefuls for the U.S. Congress, the Utah Senate and House, the Cache County Council, the Logan and Cache County school boards, the state school board and the Cache Water District.

Each candidate will be given several minutes to describe his or her goals for seeking public office and Evans adds that there will be plenty of time for people to talk with and question the candidates.

People attending the community picnics are urged to bring a dish to share with other participants, Evans explains, but potluck items are not required.

For additional information or questions about these events, residents are requested to contact Nancy Huntly of Our Community Cache Valley at nancyhuntlyut@gamil.com or Christine Hult of the League of Women Voters at christinehult@cloud.com
