LOGAN – In one of Cache Valley’s most popular summer traditions, the Utah State University Alumni Band will perform an open-air concert on Sunday, June 22.
That free event is slated to take place at 7 p.m. on the Quad near Old Main, under the direction of conductors Lane Weaver, Nicholas Morrison and Thomas Rohrer.
The USU Alumni Band was founded in 1963 by Dr. Max F. Dalby, the emeritus director of bands.
The huge ensemble is a summer band comprised of over 500 alumni of the USU Music Department, many of whom are professional musicians or music teachers.
University officials invite students, faculty and the public to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the traditional outdoor concert on June 22. That event is expected to typically attract an audience of several hundred attendees.
In the event of inclement weather, the Alumni Band concert will be moved into the nearby Daines Concert Hall.
Additional performances by the USU Alumni Band are slated for June 29, July 13 and July 27 in the Daines Concert Hall.
