LOGAN — Members of the Utah State Football team visited local police officers and firefighters Wednesday to express gratitude for their response to the Canyon Road Fire this summer.

The 17-acre wildfire broke out north of the USU Logan campus on July 31, and destroyed cars, prompted evacuations, and damaged homes. The blaze was later to be determined to be caused by the spontaneous combustion of an organic compost pile.

Team members visited the Logan City police and fire departments to thank crew members in person. Program officials announced they are coordinating with local departments to offer complimentary tickets to all Cache Valley first responders for Saturday’s home opener against Idaho State University.

First responders will also receive free tickets to the Aggies’ dedicated First Responders game on Nov. 7 against Fresno State.

In a statement on social media, the team said they were grateful for all the first responders in Cache Valley.
