
LOGAN – Dr. Beth Fauth of Utah State University will join Utah leaders from government, business and academia participating in a symposium on the challenges and opportunities facing Utah’s aging population on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The gathering at the O.C. Tanner Building in Salt Lake City – dubbed “Aging with Wise Purpose: Improving Wealth, Independence, Security and Engagement” – will bring together industry leaders, healthcare professionals and policy experts to explore critical issues involving the state’s seniors, including Gov. Spencer Cox and Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson.
Other participants the symposium will include Fauth, the director of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research Center at USU; Mayor Jenny Wilson of Salt Lake City; Rob Allen, president of Intermountain Healthcare; Dr. Julianne Holt-Lunstad, head of the Social Connections and Health Research Laboratory at Brigham Young University; Casey Cameron, Director of Utah Workforce Services; Matt Hansen, executive director of the Homecare & Hospice Association of Utah; Robert Spendlove, senior economist at Zions Bank; and Kyle Case, the chief executive officer of the Huntsman Senior Games.
Fauth received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Syracuse University and her graduate degrees in Human Development from Penn State. She is a professor of Human Development and Family Studies at USU, teaching both undergraduate and graduate classes in gerontology and research methods.
The symposium is schedule to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 14, with panel discussions on on “Wealth: Retaining Income;” “Independence: Aging in Place;” “Security: Preventing Predatory Practices;” and ”Engagement: Wellness and Connectedness.”
The O.C. Tanner Building is located at 1944 State Street in Salt Lake City.
