PARIS, Idaho — Two people were injured, including one who was ejected from the vehicle, in a rollover crash near Bear Lake on Thursday afternoon.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the single-vehicle crash on North Beach Road near the fish ladder just before 4 p.m. Investigators say the vehicle veered off the roadway and rolled one time before coming to a stop.

Emergency medical personnel and fire responders evaluated both occupants at the scene. Authorities have not released the identities of the occupants or the extent of their injuries.

Following the crash, the sheriff’s office issued a public reminder regarding the critical importance of seat belts and proper child restraint systems. Deputies emphasized that properly secured occupants are significantly less likely to suffer severe injuries or be ejected during a rollover collision.

Idaho law requires all children to be secured in age- and size-appropriate car seats or booster seats. Officials urge parents and caregivers to regularly check installations and ensure every passenger is buckled before traveling, warning that even short trips can quickly become life-threatening.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office offers free child passenger safety education and car seat inspections at its front office.
