LOGAN — Utah state liquor store shoppers can support local food pantries, family services, and animal rescues through a statewide donation drive running through the holidays.
All 52 state-run liquor stores are participating in the initiative, which allows customers to drop off donated items during their regular shopping trips. In a unique localized approach, employees at each individual store choose which specific charity to support, ensuring that the contributions directly benefit the immediate neighborhood.
Ericka Evans, director of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS), said the agency is uniquely positioned to offer this level of support because of its broad footprint across the state.
“Employees at liquor stores spanning Utah are the drivers of this robust donation drive,” Evans said. “They select the local charities and manage the collection and distribution process. I’m grateful to our store employees for the care and commitment they have to service and supporting their neighbors in need.”
The DABS established the donation drive in 2023 following a call from Gov. Spencer J. Cox for state agencies to engage in community service. Due to high customer participation and the success of the inaugural program, the department decided to make the drive an annual tradition.
Shoppers interested in contributing can check the DABS website to see which specific organization their local store is supporting and what items are most needed. The website, abs.utah.gov, provides a full list of charities for each of the 52 locations.
Donations will be accepted at all locations through Feb. 28, 2026.
