SALT LAKE CITY — Funeral services for President Jeffrey R. Holland, a senior leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Tabernacle on Temple Square.
Holland, who served as acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, died Saturday in Salt Lake City at age 85.
The service is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to noon MST. President Dallin H. Oaks will preside over the funeral, which will be conducted by Elder Quentin L. Cook. Cook and Holland were mission companions as young men in England. The program will also feature remarks from members of the Holland family and music performed by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
Church officials announced that the funeral will be open to the public for those ages 8 and older. Doors to the Tabernacle will open at 9:30 a.m., with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating will be provided as needed.
For those unable to attend in person, the services will be streamed live in 38 languages on the church’s website and in 10 languages on YouTube. Following the funeral, Holland will be buried in his hometown of St. George, Utah, alongside his wife, Patricia, who died in 2023.
