SALISBURY, MD—Utah State University student Andrew Marino placed third in the National Shore Sales Challenge (NSSC) held recently. Marino was one of 133 students from 36 colleges and universities who participated in the sales competition which was hosted virtually by Salisbury University’s Mid-Atlantic Sales and Marketing Institute (MASMI), presented by Perdue Farms.

According to a release from Salisbury University, students competed in sales role play and speed selling challenges, pitching themselves to judges, representing the event’s sponsors and others, on the topic “Why I am the best person for the job.”

Marino took third place in the speed selling challenge and received a $100 prize.

In addition to Marino being recognized as a top three finisher, USU overall was recognized as a top 10 team.

This isn’t the first time Marino has placed well in national sales competitions. As a member of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business ProSales team in 2020, Marino took home the 1st place prize in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition.

USU wasn’t the only school from the state of Utah to participate in the NSSC competition. Weber State University also sponsored a team that competed against universities from all over the country. Winners were from institutions including Appalachian State University, Florida State University, High Point University, St. Ambrose University, the University of Central Florida, the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Utah State University and Winona State University.
