LOGAN – Last October Utah State University released its Year in Review publication which featured Elizabeth Cantwell’s first year as president. That report touched on the five pillars of President Cantwell’s strategic framework for USU’s future.

Fast forward to this week and the school’s announcement of a project to redesign and strengthen USU’s statewide system to better serve the state. Thursday’s announcement appears to be the embodiment of Cantwell’s third pillar: “Expand the Statewide Enterprise.”

Ken White, vice president of USU’s Statewide Enterprise, said the idea is to expand educational pathways to empower individuals to thrive wherever they are, thus building a stronger, more agile university — together.

Utah State is seeking input from the community with an online survey at aggie.link/statewide-redesign. Questions and focus areas to address include:

1. Why should USU be the No. 1 choice for higher education in Utah?

2. What specific organizational and operational changes will drive USU’s increased value across the state of Utah and in today’s environment?

3. How might we better serve an evolving, diverse population while aligning with economic, workforce and community needs to create meaningful impact?

It will be a four phase redesign process: discover, design, develop and deliver all within a January to August timeline.

USU serves the state from 30 statewide campuses, working in all 29 counties across the state.
